The Chapter had a busy pre-season, partnering with boys and girls constituent groups to deliver some awesome US Lacrosse continuing education opportunities.
The Chapter presented the 2016 Boys Coaching Clinic in January, providing a tremendous learning environment for coaches. There were over one hundred coaches in attendance. We were fortunate to have two highly regarded high school coaches as the convention clinicians – Bob Shriver (Boy’s Latin, MD) and Andy Hilgartner (McDonough High School, MD). Thank you to Chapter Board Member Ian O’Hearn (Mercer Island) for inviting these great clinicians.
The Chapter also partnered with WSLA to host the first Washington US Lacrosse Learn To Play clinics. Two clinics were offered in conjunction with the WSLA mini-convention in January, and one clinic was offered in the South Sound in February. The LTP clinics are an awesome new learning opportunity from US Lacrosse for new parent volunteers and new coaches. A big thank you to WSLA for hosting the clinics and to the US Lacrosse certified local clinicians – Chapter Board Member and CEP Coordinator Chris Hall (Orting Lacrosse) and Grace Reid (Bellarmine Prep & 253Lacrosse)
In addition, in January the Chapter also partnered with WSLA to host US Lacrosse Level 1 boys and girls coaches clinics. The overall attendance was great to see with close to one hundred boys and girls coaches in attendance for the day.
Another thank you to WSLA for hosting these clinics, and the clinicians and volunteers who made it possible - PCA: Tony Olney, Boys: Marc Kemp (Gig Harbor), Dale Henderson, Girls: Tony D’Alessio (Vand’al Lacrosse), Hanna Landherr, Support: Brynn Handlon (WSLA), Lyn Porterfield (WSLA), Greg Chapman (Lake Sammamish & Woodinville), and Bo Weingaertner (Bellevue), Friends: Urban Family Girls Youth Lacrosse.
2016 Coaches Clinic
To celebrate all of the awesome continuing education sessions, the Chapter hosted a social gathering following the boys and girls January conventions. This included the leadership of the boys and girls constituent organizations, the Chapter leadership and the Chapter’s US Lacrosse Regional Manager Ginger Miles.
